arTikulate is a series of workshops using theatre and performance to investigate your experiences of the online world. Over four sessions, young people aged 11-14 years are invited to participate in games, activities, improv and performances fuelled by your own ideas and experiences of how online culture affects you.
Guided by Kate and Jason, we will look at things like meme culture, the manosphere, looksmaxxing, and deepfakes, along with the many great things that the online world brings. How do we keep the good parts, like connection and belonging, and avoid the stuff we don’t want to be part of?
The series will begin with an intro session where, through group discussions, theatre games and activities, we will look at experiences of the online world: the good, the bad and the cringe. We’ll use improv and theatre games to practice flipping the script, speaking out, and staying true to ourselves.
When we move into our longer sessions, we will work together to create scenes, sketches and short videos that explore the drama and humour, fun and not-so-fun aspects of the online world.
