Objective

To support and nurture the development of a skilled young piano accompanist through practical experience, professional mentorship, and expert training.

Program Summary

This scholarship offers a unique, year-long opportunity for a talented upper secondary or tertiary-level piano student or emerging accompanist/educator who is demonstrating exceptional promise in music and the arts. The scholarship is designed to bridge the gap between academic training and real-world accompaniment experience, particularly in choral and ensemble settings.

Scholarship Award

$4,000 – Stipend to support the recipient’s active engagement over 12 months:

  • Lessons/mentorship with a highly experienced accompanist/teacher over two school terms.

  • Weekly choir rehearsals and scheduled performances

  • Participation in planning meetings with the choir’s music leadership team

Outcomes

  • Enhanced practical skills and professional readiness, equipping emerging artists with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive musical landscape.

  • Real-world experience as a collaborative artist in a choral settings, enabling participants to build the portfolio, networks, and confidence necessary for long-term employment in performance, education, and arts leadership.

  • Increased visibility and leadership within the musical community, positioning the recipient as a rising cultural contributor whose work inspires, educates, and enriches communities.

Candidate Profile

2. Next steps for shortlisted applicants

  • Interview with selection panel

  • Trial with choral ensemble
