Bring your sewing ideas to life in this relaxed and welcoming sewing studio with Simone.
Choose your own project and work at your own pace, bringing along a pattern and fabric to create your garment with Simone’s guidance and support. Not sure where to start? No problem. Simone can help you choose from a selection of simple, beginner-friendly patterns and sample fabrics to practise with before starting your own project.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing with a machine, how to read and work with a pattern, and develop your confidence as you make. Whether you’re completely new to sewing or have some experience and want to tackle a project with guidance, this is a supportive space to learn, experiment and create alongside others.

If you have a specific project in mind, you’re welcome to bring your own pattern and fabric. Simone is also happy to offer advice before you purchase materials, so you can make sure you’ve chosen a project that’s suitable for your skill level.

$295 includes practice fabric
Workshops will run 6:00pm - 8:00pm 8 weeks 12th, 19th, 26th October and 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th November 2026
Classes will be held in the Garage Studio at Bluebird House 150 Swanston Street, Geelong
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Bookings are non-refundable but, should you be unable to attend, your place can be transferred to a friend. Please contact us if you should need to transfer your booking.
NDIS Participants: If this student will be using funds from an NDIS plan. Please contact sarahmoore@bluebirdfoundationinc.org.au for enrolment and an invoice exclusive of GST.
This workshop requires a minimum number of participants to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of participants, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email.

Simone Amethyst
Simone Amethyst has over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry, specialising in bridalwear and alterations. She holds a Diploma of Fashion Design and brings a wealth of practical knowledge to her sewing workshops.
With a gentle, encouraging approach, Simone supports young makers to build skills and confidence as they work on their own creative projects. She also brings experience working with children and in disability support, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
