"Character Illustration" with Melissa O'Shea | 8-12yrs | 4 - 5pm | Commences Thursday 29th May | Term 2 2025
Unleash your imagination in this hands-on 6-week character illustration workshop. Led by artist Melissa O’Shea, this fun and interactive session is perfect for young creatives who love to draw, invent stories, and bring characters to life.

In this workshop, creatives will:
Design their own unique character and build on their illustration skills
Learn drawing techniques and character-building skills
Play fun character games to spark creativity
Use a mix of materials including pencils, fine liners, and markers
Visual diary included to capture their character illustration journey
Whether you’re into fantasy, comics, anime or manga this workshop will lean into characters from all mediums to capture each participants unique interests.
Workshops will run 4-5pm Thursday afternoons at Bluebird House (Cnr Carr & Swanston Streets, South Geelong).

This workshop requires a minimum number of participants to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of participants, we'll cancel the class and fully refund you and inform you via email.
Local artist, Melissa O’Shea
Melissa O’Shea
Melissa O'Shea is a local artist who loves exploring all kinds of mediums and creative concepts. She has a passion for both traditional art forms — including drawing, painting, and working with charcoal — as well as digital art and 3D printing. Melissa especially enjoys drawing characters and sharing tips on how to bring out the small details that make each character unique. Calm and relaxed in her approach, she loves helping others find their own creative flow while discovering the joy in both the process and the finished artwork.
